I would love to go into the reasons I am not on schedule but it's a long story and while it seems I haven't done anything I really have. This is the schedule I have made to get caught up on everything. Please, if the day(s) I have posted does not work for you I need to know ASAP. I will contact you on the day I have designated for your design. These are listed in the order of when you placed/paid for your project EXCEPT the landing page designs. Those are listed last but that does not mean I won't get them done earlier. My main focus is to get WEBSITES done first then landing page designs.

ALSO! If you are in need of a LOGO please visit http://dreamstime.com and do a search on images you are thinking of for your site. Once you find a few you like simply email me the links to the images and I will work around the image you want/like the best. This will make the process go a lot faster because you will have picked an image you like! :)

I would like to stick to this schedule so that I can get caught up. Everyone that ordered a website project below will get an extra FREE month of website hosting on me. I am on US EASTERN time (I am located in PA) - - - I am usually on the computer around 8AM and get off around 4PM.

Just Who Is Sha?

Well let's see..... first, my real name is Sharon but online it's just easier to type "Sha" so that's who I am - Sha (pronounced SHAY in case you were wondering LoL). I am not going to bore you with my entire life so I'll summarize my younger days and skip right to the time I first started with Website Design.

I am the youngest of 5 kids, I grew up near Gettysburg PA, graduated from a Catholic Boarding School near Lancaster, PA in 1989, was married to a very abusive man for 19 months the first time, a single mom for a long time and now I am remarried to a wonderful man and live about an hour east of Pittsburgh PA in the Laurel Mountains. (That's it for that part! LoL)

I was a single mom for a little over 12 years after a short but nasty marriage and divorce. In 1994, I needed a creative outlet to get out all my frustrations from the divorce and a friend introduced to me Website Design. I was instantly hooked! It quickly became a hobby and in 1998 my mom encouraged me to open my first website design business locally. Together we came up with the name Websites Unlimited. I ended up having several clients from all over world thanks to my dad who introduced me to several of his business associates and instantly I became a success. After a couple of years, I took a long hiatus from my business and only maintained a select few clients' websites to focus on my son and myself. Basically, I needed to "find myself".

In 2004 I met my current husband. He was a single dad to 2 boys and yes, he had custody (an instant turn on! LoL). Our relationship evolved very quickly - we met, dated, moved in together and got pregnant within 6 months! After several years of "NO" to marriage proposals from him, I finally said "YES" and we got married in 2007. We had a beautiful outdoor wedding with around 60 guests by a lake just down the road from our house. It was a wonderful stressful day! Today we have 4 boys ages 20, 17, 16 and our youngest is 5.

I have been a full time work at home mom since the 4th month of my pregnancy in 2005 due to complications (everything worked out - don't worry). At that time I had been working for my dad's company as his Multimedia Manager creating and maintaining his websites, creating Promotional items and doing various administrative duties. Luckily, I did work for my dad, so working from home was not a problem. In 2007 my dad had to lay off most of his employees and while I still work for him to this day, I am no longer on the payroll, but he does hire me every time he needs something done. So I decided to open my first WAHM hosting business, but in the summer of 2009 I had to sell that business due to my husband being in a horrible trucking accident. The medical and household bills were piling up and I was forced to get an "out of home" job. I was devastated but I had to what was best for my family and giving up that business was so hard because I was one of the most sought out designers in the WAHM network.

In July 2010 I decided to take the plunge and start over from scratch. I missed my passion for design and working with other moms.I missed doing what I love and having that sense of accomplishment. When you are married with 4 boys (3 teenagers and a toddler) you tend to feel a little under appreciated. LoL Doing what I do for other moms is the SO rewarding. I love that I can help another mom achieve her business and personal goals. So because of that, WAHM eCommerce was born. :)

It has been a long 10 months of rebuilding my business and online reputation. I was sort of lost after I sold the first business. But I am happy to be a part of over 34 clients' businesses and enjoy helping them get the most out of their business by offering the services I do through WAHM eCommerce.

As my clientele grows I realize I need to do more for my moms! So within the next month or so I will be revamping my entire business! I will be redesigning my site to make it easier to navigate, explaining services in more detail and offering even more services to the work at home mom.

So there you have it - that's who Sha is in a nutshell (well a very LARGE nutshell!). I am a mom, wife, sister, daughter, niece, aunt and friend to many and I work at home - just like YOU.

What a CRAZY BUSY Month!

WoW! I can't believe how busy WeC has gotten over the past month! We have gained 34 new clients who have ordered a variety of services from facebook design services to our "Total Package" (complete websites). Over HALF of those 34 are new website hosting clients that ordered "The Total Package" and a few are clients that ordered just hosting and decided to order custom designs as well. We also had a few in there that originally ordered Facebook Services and loved the results of their final design so much they went ahead and signed up for our hosting/website design services as well!

I must admit that gaining this many clients has made me realize that I MUST get more organized! While I do have my weekly design schedule posted on here I still have a tendency of leaving someone out or I have lost an email or two... I have even skipped over a new order without realizing it!

So during this past week while I had small breaks I have set up a few new things for existing and new clients. New clients ordering will now be given a special URL to fill our Pre-Design Order Form after payment is received. This form asks for specific information that will help us get a better understanding of what they want their final design to be.This alone will save about 3-10 back and forth emails and valuable time as well!

If I get a request for help from a client, I have a tendency of stopping everything and focus on just that client. At times this can take hours - sometimes a full day away from my design work. So because of this, I have put out a request for WeC Mentors! WeC Mentors are existing clients that are "hired" by us to help new clients in setting up their eStores. These Mentors will be compensated with Hosting Credit in return for their generosity in helping other clients. This alone will give me so much more time to work on designs and I do plan on giving these Mentors a little more exposure by creating a special page on our main website and on Facebook highlighting their businesses.

With the increase in clientele I have also realized that my own website is terribly cluttered and unorganized. This past week I have worked with my Tech Gal on a new vision for the site. The new site will be easier to navigate and give all potential clients a better understanding of what WAHM eCommerce is and what we offer. I will be implementing new services, new pricing and a more organized explanation of each service offered.

Over the next month or so I will also be upgrading our eStore software! I have to come to realize that while I believe the WeC eStore is one of the best out there, it is lacking a few features that our moms would benefit from. I cannot go into details just yet, but I can tell you my Tech Gal and I are working very hard to make the WeC eStore the best it can be. When we are closer to the launch date of the new features I will send out a mass email to all my clients with the list and an option to upgrade for a one time very low fee.

Again I must thank all of my newest clients for their patience and understanding this past month. With my medical issues and a few kids getting sick here and there, my time on the computer hasn't been as much as I would have liked. But I strongly believe that because I am a mom and a wife who caters to other moms and wives that I have some of the best clients out there. It is because they are moms and wives that they understand that sometimes "real life (offline life) just happens". It is out of our control and if something needs tended to we do drop everything and get it done. So again THANK YOU to everyone. This past week I was able to get SO MUCH done and I finally feel that I am in a comfortable place with my schedule and I truly hope you feel the same way.

I'm not really the "Betty Crocker" type but I do have a few tricks up my sleeve. My family absolutely LOVES my Peanut Butter Fudge and Chocolate Peanut Butter No Bakes. I looked in the cabinet and I had all the ingredients to make them both this week! My husband's response to the PB Fudge "What made you decide to make this?", to which I responded "Are you complaining?" and his final response "No, make more!" HA! Gotta love it when I surprise the family late in the evening with yummy treats!

Sometimes we just need chocolate (and peanut butter)! They are nice sweet relaxing ingredients by themselves or together!

And I must add the day after I made the Peanut Butter Fudge - I worked on 3 websites! So go make yourself a treat - it truly will get your creative juices flowing!

Peanut Butter Fudge

Secret Recipe - Please don't ask :)

Chocolate Peanut Butter No Bake Cookies

Ingredients

2 cups sugar
4 tablespoons cocoa
1 stick butter
1/2 cup milk
1 cup peanut butter
1 tablespoon vanilla
3 cups oatmeal
Waxed paper

Directions

In a heavy saucepan bring to a boil, the sugar, cocoa, butter and milk. Let boil for 1 minute then add peanut butter, vanilla and oatmeal. On a sheet of waxed paper, drop mixture by the teaspoonfuls, until cooled and hardened.

I just wanted to send out an email to everyone about some changes with WAHM eCommerce! Please note that this is just a GENERAL UPDATE email to EVERYONE. Some of this update may apply to you and some might not.

LATE FEES:
Late fees have been raised to $5.00. Everyone gets their invoice 14 days PRIOR to your due date and you get another invoice 7 days prior to your due date. You have up to 5 days to pay your invoice or a late fee will be applied. You will get 1 "over due" notice 4 days after your payment was due. On the 5th day after your invoice was due your account will be suspended automatically. I have it set up this way to give you a little more flexibility and time to get your invoices paid in a timely manner. The old fee of $1 is now gone and a fee of $5 will now be applied to all late payments.

AFFILIATE PROGRAM:
The affiliate program is set up and ALL clients can now join. The referral incentive is 5% of each order. This 5% will be applied to your hosting fees. You will earn credit in your account for each referral you send. When your invoice comes to you, you can log into your account and APPLY these referral earnings to your current invoice. I will have banners available soon for you to put on your websites to refer people to WAHM eCommerce. For now you can simply log into your account, activate the affiliate program and use the link provided to refer people.

SECURITY ISSUES
A note from my Server Host:
We've recently noticed a large number of hacked online stores. Hosting companies around the world have been scrambling to meet request after request to help clean their clients' websites. Unfortunately, a few of our own clients' sites were affected by this latest global attack.
Of course, if your website happens to get hacked, we will help you clean it up. Having said that, it is up to you, the website owner, to periodically check your website to make sure everything is running smoothly. Unless you have our extended monitoring services added onto your hosting plan, we are not responsible for constant monitoring of what goes onto each and every one of our clients' websites. While we'd love to be able to do that, it is an extensive, time consuming practice when you consider how many websites there are on our servers. It is not, however, very time consuming for a website owner to do to their own website.
We'd like to take a moment to show you how to secure a website that uses Online Store Cart or any other shopping cart that uses an osCommerce based script. Of course, nothing is foolproof – hackers learn new tricks everyday and nothing is safe from being hacked. In fact, some of largest online companies in the world were hacked into this year. But, these methods will definitely help make sure that your site isn't hacked with any of the more recently used methods.

NOTE FROM SHA : We do not recommend you try these "fixes" if you are not comfortable with your cPanel and "backend" file changes. We will gladly make all the necessary changes for you for a ONE TIME FEE of just $10.

Change the name of your admin folder! The most common hacks use a script that locates the admin folder, so changing the name will drastically reduce the number of attacks sent your way. Here is how to change the name of your admin folder:That's it! You will now use that folder to access your admin. So, if you were going to http://your_site.com/admin, you would now go to http://your_site.com/manager (or whatever you named the folder). NOTE: In order to make further instructions easy to follow, I will still be referring to the admin folder as admin. Please remember to follow along using your new folder name.
1. Change the name of the folder itself. To do this, go into your cPanel's File Manager and locate the admin folder. Click on it once to highlight the folder and then click on the Rename button at the top of the page. Change the name to something that is easy for you to remember, it doesn't have to be complicated. I like to use things like orders or manager. For added security, try to be creative and pick something that people won't guess.
2. Staying in the File Manager, locate the includes>local>configure.php file. Find this line:
  define('DIR_FS_ADMIN', '/home/username/public_html/admin/');
  Change the last admin to the name of your new admin folder. It should look something like this:
  define('DIR_FS_ADMIN', '/home/username/public_html/manager/');
  *NOTE: username is your cPanel username, DO NOT change that.
3. Next, locate the admin>includes>configure.php file. Find these lines:
  define('DIR_WS_ADMIN', '/admin/');
  define('DIR_FS_ADMIN', '/home/username/public_html/admin/');
  Change the lowercase admin in both to your new name again – just as before.
Password protect the admin folder! Yes, you do have to login to get into your admin area, but there are still some pages within it that can be accessed with the proper hack. The way around this is to password protect the admin folder itself. To do this, find the icon in your cPanel named Password Protect Directories. Once inside, click on the link to your admin area (note: if you changed the name in the previous step, find the new folder name). Do not click on the folder icon as that will take you inside of the admin folder, just click on the word itself. There are two sections inside this area.
1. First you will need to activate password protection for the directory. To do this, just click on the box labeled Password protect this directory . You will need to give a name to the protection. This name will appear in the new login box for the admin folder use something simple such as your store name. After you have checked the box, click on Save. You will get a message telling you that the permissions were set. Click on the Back link below that.
2. Now you will need to create the login. In the area called Create User, you will see a form. Fill out what you want the admin user and password to be. I don't ever recommend using admin as the user since it is by far the most commonly used admin name. Also, make sure that the password is not easy to guess. I see a lot of people use their store name… this is very easy to guess. The strength indicator will tell you how easy your password is for people to guess. You may choose to use the password generator, but that doesn't give you something easy for you to remember. Personally, I like using things I can remember like names mixed with birthdays. But, I add a twist. I change letters to symbols that look like them. For example, if my name were Lacy and my birthday was January 2, I'd do something like this: L@cy_01-02. Remember that how you use your caps is important too.
3. That's it. Now you will have a popup whenever you go to your admin area asking you to login. You should stay in for as long as you are within the browser, so make sure you close everything down when you are ready to logoff.
Delete the most commonly hacked files! Standard osCommerce comes with a couple files that are hacked more often than any other files. Luckily, these files are outdated and aren't used to help keep things running. Delete the following files from your admin area: file_manager.php, define_language.php, & banner_manager.php. There is nothing within those files that you can't do from within your cPanel.
Add further security with .htaccess files! There are a lot of different ways to use .htaccess files to add more flexibility or security to your site. Listed below are just a few. NOTE: If using File Manager, make sure you click on the box to show hidden files to see the .htaccess files. The root (public_html) area will already have one there in most cases. Other folders may or may not have them, so you can create a new one. Just make a file called .htaccess Also, when editing an .htaccess file, make sure to use a new line for each bit of code added. If you mess up this file, it will mess up your website until it is fixed. Follow closely to make sure that you are changing the .htaccess file in the right directory. I've italicized the folder you should be in when making these changes.
1. Don't allow directory browsing. If you have any folders within your site that don't have an index page, people will be able to just browse through your website files. To disable this, go to your site's public_html directory and edit the .htaccess file. Add the following bit of code:
  # disable directory browsing
  Options All -Indexes
2. Only allow images in your images folders. The majority of hacks we've come across over the years place malicious files within the images folders. To make sure people can't upload hacked files into your images folder, place an .htaccess file within your images folder to include the following lines of code:
  <FilesMatch "\.(php|ini|html|htm|psd)$">
  Order Allow,Deny
  Deny from all
  </FilesMatch>
3. Prevent access to your .htaccess file. Of course, you don't want hackers to have access to this file you are making these changes to, right? So, add this bit of code to your .htaccess files:
  # secure htaccess file
  <Files .htaccess>
  order allow,deny
  deny from all
  </Files>
4. Limit the people allowed in your admin area, even if they have your password. This one is tricky because you could end up locking yourself out of your own admin area, but, of course, you could always come back to the .htaccess file in your cPanel to change it back. If you know your IP address, then you can change your admin area to only allow you to enter. Add this bit of code to the admin folder's .htaccess file. NOTE: if you ever have anyone else do work on your site, you will need to add their IP address as well. Use the following, but change 123.0.0.0 to your own IP address.
  # allow access by IP address
  order allow,deny
  allow from 123.0.0.0
  deny from all

New Design, Updates & News!

We are SUPER excited to announce our newly redesigned WAHM eCommerce!! The entire process took Sha approximately 4-5 days but we are very happy with how everything turned out!

You shouldn't experience any problems and nothing has changed on your end at all. We just decided we needed a new bolder, brighter, more professional look!

We will be moving forward with things shortly - Amberle will be creating a Facebook Ad for the business - this WILL generate a ton of more traffic to our Facebook page and our website. In preparation of this, we have updated our facebook page by adding client site screenshots with links, created a new blog (still in progress) and we need to update our Twitter Design as well. The new year promises a lot of incentives for you, our awesome clients! Once we have the advertising in place and business picks up we will be offering a REFERRAL PROGRAM to help you earn credit towards your hosting bills!
